• Promotion of education
Education provides foundation for eradicating poverty and fostering economic development. Apart from the institutional support, awareness and development programmes, campaigns and rallies are also conducted to promote education. Sports and cultural programmes are organized to develop the physical, mental and social skills of children. Dakshit Global Trust educational interventions provide children with the support needed to acquire the skills being taught by the educational system and also address the functional skills, academic, cognitive, behavioral, and social skills that directly affect the child’s ability to access an education. Dakshit Global Trust educational interventions are a tribute to the future generation by offering empowerment to the underprivileged and opportunities to the marginalized.
• Protection of child Rights
Dakshit Global Trust recognizes, promotes and protects the rights of children hailing in urban slum communities. The children begin to gain self confidence conquering psychological complexes. Having handled opportunities to lead, they develop their personalities and enhance their leadership qualities. Awareness programmes are conducted from time to time to make them aware of their rights. Dakshit Global Trust is working for the children in distress and protects the children against exploitation and abuse. Interventions are made in the cases like child labor, trafficking and sexual harassment, apart from offering counseling to the vulnerable children. Dakshit Global Trust keeps adding child rights interventions so as to stir up the soul of a society that compromises on the future of a generation.
• Youth & Skill Developmet
Myriad of issues are hindering the mobilization of youth for skill development. These encompass low literacy level, inability to pay for trainings, lack of awareness, lack of employers’ endorsements among others. Therefore, innovative and multiple ways are required to address these concerns simultaneously. Dakshit Global Trust equips youth with skills and knowledge they need, to grow up and move out of poverty. Skill development programmes by Dakshit Global Trust strive to make youth work ready through technical and vocational training, build their life skills involving personal competencies, problem-solving and managing conflicts, entrepreneurship, and related skills for long term success in the workplace. Apart from vocational training, programmes are organized on personality development and life skills to build their self esteem and self confidence and develop their abilities to take the responsibility of themselves and society around them. The goal of Dakshit Global Trust through the initiative of youth and skill development is to support youth to achieve improved economic, physical and social well-being, and become catalysts for positive change in their families, community, and country.
• Community Health Care
Health is a major concern and the most crucial aspect of human life.
Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing to the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Also, due to discrimination, the access to healthcare services remains a challenge.
Healthcare for underprivileged, which is a desperate need, thus remains unaddressed. Dakshit Global Trust works towards improving the access to quality health services for the poor and marginalised communities. Dakshit Global Trust works at the individual and community level to improve the health conditions of the community. Health camps are conducted from time to time in association with health care partners with a view to provide treatment services by initially conducting diagnosis and referrals to hospitals for major cases. Health workshops and awareness programmes are organized on the topics such as nutrition, seasonal diseases, health and hygiene, menstrual health, personal and environmental hygiene, awareness on prevention of various diseases, etc. Direct observation & treatment services (DOTS) center in being run by Dakshit Global Trust helps to cure tuberculosis.
Dakshit Global Trust through its integrated approach is fulfilling the basic health needs of the underprivileged.
• Environment Protection
Environmental issues like deforestation, increasing global warming, water scarcity, pollution etc have caught national attention calling for immediate action. It is imperative to encourage people from different societies and communities to participate in developing environmental safety measures, as active agents and spread awareness among people to make their nearby surroundings safe and clean to enjoy safer, cleaner and more prosperous future.
Dakshit Global Trust undertakes a number of green initiatives and at the same time also take a lead in creating awareness on environmental issues through various campaigns to bring in a sense of responsibility among the citizens.
Our regular activities of aw areness building and involving the communities in hygiene and environmental protection drives/campaigns are one among the many activities that we carry out the operational areas. The major impact of such programmes lies not in organizing them but involving the people of the community to resolve their problems relating to clean environment within the area they live in. Certain activities like building toilets, drainage around the houses, solving water logging problems in the area etc are some of the issues that are generally focused and resolved with the effective participation of the people of the community. Dakshit Global Trust Environment Education Center is an initiative by the organization to implement and impart education on green practices.
The center has paper recycling unit, herbal plants, air purifying plants, pot making, manure making, eco-bricks, fish pond and organic farming. The center also promotes the usage of jute products through green shopper campaign. Through its intervention, Dakshit Global Trust is constantly making efforts to protect the environment and instil green values among people.
